Mr. Hamid Reza Eshaghi had participated in the Commission's sessions for the last 15 years, and he had enjoyed a political refugee status in France for 25 years. No official reason was invoked for this refusal. The rejection of Mr. Eshaghi, a human rights defender, was considered a scandal. Mr. Eshaghi and other individuals had been kept on a 'red list' by the Iranian authorities, because of his condemnation of the human rights violations in that country. She asked for further clarification for his ban from participating in the Commission."
