Kazemi trial in Iran: Iran should welcome observers at the trial

An Iranian intelligence agent charged with killing Montreal photojournalist Zahra Kazemi will be put on trial in Iran on Saturday. The Kazemi family will be represented by an impressive advocate: Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human-rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi. However, it appears increasingly unlikely that the court will admit monitors from Canada, whether diplomats or journalists. Iran would be wrong to let so important a trial proceed without outside observers.
